The Company
 |
GNL Italia S.p.A., which owns and manages the
LNG (liquefied natural gas) regasification plant at Panigaglia (La
Spezia), was founded on 27 July 2001 in order to receive under
conferral, detain and manage the activities carried out by Snam Rete Gas
S.p.A. relating to the regasification of liquefied natural gas. The
company began operations on November 1st, 2001.
A centre of excellence was created at the time to develop advanced
technology and engineering in the field of liquefied natural gas, and
full operating autonomy was given to the regulated regasification
activities, previously carried out by Snam Rete Gas S.p.A.
Snam Rete Gas wholly owns GNL Italia.
The conferral process for regasification capacity was conducted on the
basis of the access approved by the Authority for Electricity and Gas,
which defines the terms of service, obligations and responsibilities of
GNL Italia and its users.
At the start of the thermal year, the right of access to the ongoing
regasification service was granted.
The slots still available, either because they have not been granted or
because they are not used at the time of the definition of the unloading
programme, are made available monthly so as to permit "spot" unloadings.
