The activities carried out at the
plant have a limited environmental impact.
Emissions into the atmosphere of pollutants mainly derive from the
combustion processes – that is, the LNG vaporization system and the
boilers used for civil purposes.
Energy consumption is not constant over time, but varies from year to
year according to user demand.
The use of natural gas as the main fuel makes it possible to reduce
atmospheric emissions of sulphur oxides, powders, carbon monoxide and
organic compounds to a minimum. Emissions of nitric oxide are also lower
compared to those produced by coal and liquid fuels. At equal energy
output, the carbon dioxide produced by the natural gas combustion is
25-30% less than petroleum products and 40-50% less than coal.

The waste produced by GNL
Italia’s activities is extremely limited and derives mainly from the
various maintenance activities which are carried out at the plant.
The water supply is predominantly made up of sea water which is used for
the cooling of the auxiliary plants.
